Fair usage policy

Unlimited means unlimited data, at two speeds.

Part of our Terms

How the daily allowance works

Each unlimited plan includes a daily full-speed allowance (typically the first 1 GB in each 24-hour period). After that, speed reduces until the next 24-hour reset, still enough for maps, messaging and browsing, slower for video.

  • Full speed, the first 1 GB of the day
  • Reduced speed, still connected
  • Allowance resets every 24 hours
01.

Start each day at full speed. The first 1 GB in each 24-hour period is delivered at full speed.

02.

Keep going at reduced speed. After the allowance, speed reduces but you stay connected: enough for maps, messaging and browsing, slower for video.

03.

Reset every 24 hours. At the next 24-hour mark the allowance resets and your full-speed allowance starts again.

The exact allowance and reduced speed vary by plan and are set out here and in our Terms. We spell them out plainly because “unlimited” with hidden throttling is exactly the kind of surprise we don't do.

What reduced speed still does

Once you pass the daily full-speed allowance, your connection keeps working for the things travellers rely on most.

  • Maps and navigation
  • WhatsApp and iMessage
  • Email
  • Ride-hailing apps
  • Boarding passes
  • Social feeds and general browsing

The honest caveat

What it will not do well is stream high-definition video or download very large files, so if that matters to you on a given day, a standard plan with a larger data amount is often the better fit.

These keep working at reduced speed.

Standard plans versus unlimited

Light and typical travellers usually do best on a standard plan sized to their trip; heavy daily users who would rather not think about a total cap tend to prefer unlimited.

Standard

A fixed amount at full speed

A standard plan gives you a fixed amount of data (for example 5 GB or 10 GB) at full speed the whole time, with no daily reset.

  • Full speed for the whole plan
  • No daily reset to think about
  • Pick a size that fits your trip
Unlimited

Never runs out, at two speeds

An unlimited plan never runs out, but trades a portion of full speed each day for that peace of mind. First 1 GB each day at full speed, then unlimited at reduced speed.

  • Data never runs out during the plan's validity
  • First 1 GB each day at full speed, then unlimited at reduced speed
  • No total cap to keep an eye on

The practical details

Hotspot and tethering

Where a plan supports hotspot, it is marked on the plan card, and on unlimited plans any hotspot use draws from the same daily full-speed allowance. Sharing your connection with a laptop or a second device can use the allowance quickly, so keep an eye on it if you tether often.

Checking your usage

You can see your remaining data on your order page under “My eSIMs”, or in your phone's own cellular-data counter for the eSIM line. Supplier-reported figures can lag by a short time, so treat them as a close guide rather than to the exact megabyte.

When the validity ends

Unlimited plans can't be topped up. When the validity ends, buy a new plan and we deliver a new eSIM instantly.

Why we publish this

A fair usage policy is not a penalty, it is us being straight with you. Plenty of eSIMs advertise “unlimited” and quietly throttle you with no explanation. We would rather tell you exactly how the plan behaves so you can choose the right one and travel without surprises.
