Connectivity in Romania
In Romania your Simzora eSIM connects automatically to one of the country's main mobile networks, Orange, Vodafone or Digi, and stays on whichever gives the best signal where you are standing. Across Bucharest, Brașov and Cluj-Napoca you should get reliable 4G for maps, streaming and internet calls, with 5G reachable in parts of the larger cities. Coverage is honestly thinner and slower once you head into the Carpathian mountains, the Danube Delta and small rural villages, where the signal can drop to basic data or fade out for a while.
The eSIM joins these networks as an international roaming line rather than a local Romanian SIM, so you need to switch Data Roaming on for the Simzora line in your phone settings. This is completely normal for a travel eSIM and adds no extra charge, because the plan you bought already covers the data you use. If your home SIM is still in the phone, leave Data Roaming off for that line so only the Simzora eSIM uses the roaming connection.
If your phone shows No Service or will not connect after you land, switch Aeroplane Mode on for about fifteen seconds and then off again, which forces the eSIM to search for a network afresh. Signal can also dip inside thick stone buildings, old churches and the underground metro sections in Bucharest, so step towards a window or wait until you are back at street level. Most plans begin the moment you first connect in Romania, so you can install the eSIM over Wi-Fi at home and simply turn it on when you arrive.
Because this is a data-only roaming line you get no Romanian phone number and no SMS, so keep your home SIM active in another phone for any bank or login codes sent by text. Your roaming data may also leave the network through a gateway outside Romania, so some websites and apps can treat you as browsing from abroad and show a different language or ask you to verify again. WhatsApp, iMessage and other internet-based apps carry on working normally over the eSIM data.

Installed in minutes, before you fly
Do it on home Wi-Fi the day you buy. Three small steps:
The one-tap Install button on your delivery screen does it without any scanning. Prefer the QR? Open your email on a second screen. Samsung? Paste the manual code, it always works.
On Wi-Fi: set the eSIM as your data line, then turn Data Roaming ON for the eSIM line only, normal for travel eSIMs, costs nothing extra. Your home SIM stays untouched.
Your plan starts per the policy on its card, at purchase, or first connection in your destination. One rule forever: never delete the eSIM; top up instead.
Romania eSIM FAQs
Which networks will I get in Romania?+−
Your eSIM roams across Romania's leading operators, Orange, Vodafone and Digi, and connects to whichever has the strongest signal in your location. You do not choose the network by hand, as the phone selects and switches between them for you. In Bucharest, Brașov and Cluj-Napoca this usually means solid 4G, with 5G available in some city areas.
Do I get a Romania phone number or SMS?+−
No, this is a data-only eSIM, so it comes with no Romanian phone number and cannot send or receive standard text messages or calls. Keep your normal home SIM active in another phone for any bank or login codes that arrive by SMS. Apps such as WhatsApp, iMessage and Signal still work fine because they run over your eSIM data.
How much data do I get and when does the plan start?+−
You use the data allowance shown on the plan you bought, and for most plans the clock starts the first time the eSIM connects to a network in Romania. That means you can install it over Wi-Fi before you leave home without using up your days early. Once your allowance or validity period runs out, you can buy a fresh plan or top up.
How is coverage in the Carpathian mountains and the Danube Delta?+−
Coverage in the big cities and along main roads is strong, but the high Carpathian passes, remote Transylvanian villages and the wetlands of the Danube Delta can be slow or have no signal at all. This is a limit of the physical networks in those places, not of the eSIM itself, and local SIM users meet the same gaps. Download offline maps and save any tickets or bookings in advance if you plan to explore those regions.
