Connectivity in Paraguay

Your eSIM connects as an international roaming line on Paraguay's main mobile networks, Tigo, Personal and Claro, switching between them automatically to pick up the stronger signal. Expect dependable 4G LTE across the places most visitors spend their time, the capital Asunción, the border trading city of Ciudad del Este, and Encarnación in the south. Coverage is at its best in and around these cities and along the main roads that link them, and it does thin out once you head into the sparsely populated Gran Chaco in the west or the deep rural interior, where the signal can drop to a slower connection or none at all.

Because this is a roaming line, it works independently of local registration, so there is no Paraguayan SIM or account to set up. It is data-only, with no local phone number and no SMS, so keep your usual home SIM in the phone to receive bank and login OTP codes and take regular calls. You will need Data Roaming switched on for the eSIM line, which is normal for a travel eSIM and costs nothing extra, and WhatsApp works as usual over the data connection, so you can still call and message on your own number.

After you land, set the Simzora eSIM as your mobile-data line and switch on Data Roaming for that line only. If the phone shows 'No Service' or will not connect once you arrive, toggle Airplane Mode on and off once to nudge it into registering with Tigo, Personal or Claro. It usually connects within a minute or two of landing at Asunción's Silvio Pettirossi airport, so you can message home before you leave the terminal.

One honest note on how roaming works: because your traffic may exit through an internet gateway outside Paraguay, the occasional website or app can treat you as if you are browsing from another country. Everyday tools like maps, browsing and messaging work normally, so this is a minor quirk rather than a blocker. If any of that routing ever changes, we will say so plainly.
