Choosing the Gulf (GCC) eSIM

The Gulf (GCC) bundle covers six countries on one eSIM: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq. It suits the trip shape this region actually produces, a business week split between Dubai and Riyadh, a Gulf work rotation, a Doha stopover bolted onto a longer route, or a family circuit taking in more than one Gulf city without buying a separate plan for each stop.

Crossing between the six is meant to be invisible. The eSIM roams as an international line on local partner networks in each country, so when you fly Dubai to Riyadh or drive the causeway between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia your phone simply re-registers on a network in the new country and the same allowance keeps running. Data Roaming has to stay switched on for the Simzora line, and the phone can take a minute to latch on after you land.

Sizes go 1 GB over 7 days, then 3 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB each running 30 days, and there are separate plans giving 1 GB a day at full speed for 7, 15 or 30 days before the rest of that day drops to a reduced speed. Pick by daily habit: light map and messaging use fits the smaller totals, while heavy hotspot or video days across a long stay are what the daily plans are for.

Two honest caveats. Despite the GCC name, Oman is not in this bundle and Iraq is, so an Oman leg needs the wider Middle East and North Africa plan instead. And if your trip is really one country with a brief layover elsewhere, compare this against a single-country eSIM first, because a regional bundle is priced for the borders you cross rather than one long stay. It is data only, with no number, calls or SMS.

  • Install before departure; the clock starts on your first Gulf connection, so an eSIM added the week before a Dubai or Riyadh trip sits idle at no cost until you land.
  • Set the Simzora eSIM as your data line and switch Data Roaming on for it, or nothing will connect.
  • Keep your home SIM live in a second phone for bank and login codes; this line carries no SMS.
  • Check the phone is eSIM capable and carrier unlocked before buying, since a locked handset cannot load the profile.
  • Hopping Dubai to Doha or Bahrain to Dammam needs no new eSIM, the same plan follows you across.

Frequently asked questions

Six: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq. Note that Oman is not among them, even though the bundle is named after the GCC. If Oman is on your route, the Middle East and North Africa plan covers it instead.
No. The same eSIM and the same allowance work in all six countries. Your phone re-registers on a partner network in the new country by itself, usually within a minute or two of you leaving Airplane Mode. Nothing to reinstall, no second QR code.
One gigabyte at full speed each day, then a reduced speed until the day resets. That covers a normal working day of email, maps and messaging between Dubai and Riyadh, though a video call after the switch will struggle. They matter more here than on other bundles because 10 GB over 30 days is the largest standard size on this plan, so a long rotation runs out of standard ladder before it runs out of month.
No. Every plan here is data only, with no phone number, no calls and no SMS. Local app sign-ups that demand an SMS code will not work on this line. Keep your usual SIM active in another phone for those, and use WhatsApp or FaceTime over data.
Standard Gulf plans support a top-up, so you add data to the eSIM you already installed rather than starting again with a new QR code. Buying the next size up front is worth considering if you expect heavy hotspot use, since 10 GB over 30 days is the largest standard size here.
