Connectivity in Ecuador
Your Simzora eSIM connects to Ecuador's main mobile networks, Claro, Movistar and CNT, giving you solid 4G LTE data across the busiest urban areas. In Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca you can expect fast, dependable data for maps, messaging, streaming and video calls, with 5G reachable in parts of the larger cities where the networks have switched it on. Coverage is honestly thinner once you leave the main towns, so expect slower or patchy signal in the Andes highlands, remote Amazon areas and on rural roads. Speeds can also dip inside thick concrete buildings and in deep valleys.
This is an international roaming line that rides on those local networks, so it is not a local Ecuadorian SIM, which is completely normal for a travel eSIM. For it to work you must switch on Data Roaming for the Simzora eSIM line in your settings, and doing so costs nothing extra on top of your plan. It is a data-only line, which means there is no local phone number and no SMS, though WhatsApp, iMessage, email and video calls all work normally over the data connection.
If your phone shows "No Service" or will not connect in the first few minutes after you land, switch Airplane Mode on for about fifteen seconds and then off again, which nudges the phone to search for a local network afresh. It can take a short while to latch on once you step off the plane, so give it a moment before assuming anything is wrong. Coverage may also drop briefly inside underground car parks, lifts and some older stone buildings in the historic centres, and it returns as soon as you are back in the open.
Because this is a roaming line, some of your internet traffic may exit through a gateway outside Ecuador, so the occasional website, banking app or streaming service might think you are browsing from another country and show content in a different language. This is normal for travel eSIMs and usually harmless, but for anything that must see you as being in Ecuador you can keep your home SIM handy in a second phone. Out in the Galapagos, deep Amazon lodges and high Andean passes the signal can be weak or absent, so download maps and key documents while you still have a strong city connection.

Ecuador eSIM FAQs
Which networks will I get in Ecuador?+−
Your eSIM roams on Ecuador's leading networks, Claro, Movistar and CNT, and connects automatically to whichever gives the best signal where you are standing. You will get strong 4G LTE data in Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca, with some 5G in the larger cities. Rural, mountain, Amazon and island areas can be slower or patchy, which is normal across the country.
Do I get a Ecuador phone number or SMS?+−
No, this is a data-only eSIM, so it does not come with an Ecuadorian phone number and cannot send or receive standard SMS text messages. You can still call and message over the internet using WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime and similar apps, which all run on the data connection. Keep your home SIM active in another phone if you need to receive bank or login codes by text.
How much data do I get and when does my plan start?+−
You choose your data amount and validity when you buy, and the full allowance is yours to use across Ecuador on any of the supported networks. Most plans begin the moment the eSIM first connects to a network in Ecuador, not when you install it, so you can safely set it up on Wi-Fi before you fly. Once you land and Data Roaming is switched on, the validity period starts counting down.
Will the eSIM work in the Galapagos Islands?+−
Coverage in the Galapagos is far more limited than on the mainland, reaching the main towns such as Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz but thinning out quickly elsewhere and at sea. You may find data slow or unavailable during boat trips, national park excursions and remote beaches, so download maps and information beforehand. The same caution applies to deep Amazon lodges and high Andean trails, where the signal can be weak or absent.
