Choosing the Caribbean eSIM

Twenty five destinations sit on this coverage list, and the mix matters more than the number. It spans the Eastern Caribbean chain from Antigua down to Saint Lucia and Grenada, the larger islands of Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, the Cayman and Turks and Caicos groups, and a run of South American mainland countries including Brazil, Colombia and Peru. That combination suits island hopping, a multi-stop sailing week, or a Caribbean trip bolted onto a South American leg.

You install one profile and keep it. Landing on a new island, the phone searches and registers on whatever partner coverage exists there, and your remaining data carries over untouched. There is no second QR code and no reinstall between stops. What the bundle cannot do is follow you out to sea: on a ferry crossing or a cruise leg you drop to whatever the ship sells, since open water has no land coverage.

Four standard sizes are offered. The 1 GB plan runs 7 days at $11.99 and fits a short hop where you mostly want maps and messaging between Wi-Fi. The 3 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB plans all run 30 days, at $29.99, $53.99 and $89.99, which suits a fortnight of island hopping or a month-long stay. All four top up, so starting smaller and adding later is a reasonable hedge.

Read the coverage list before you commit, because Caribbean plans rarely cover everything people picture. Several popular destinations are absent here, among them the Bahamas, Cuba, Aruba, Trinidad and Tobago and the US Virgin Islands. If your trip stays on one covered island, a single-country eSIM is normally cheaper per gigabyte. The regional bundle earns its price once you are crossing three or four borders.

  • Install on Wi-Fi before you fly; the validity days only start when the eSIM first connects.
  • Your phone must be eSIM capable and carrier unlocked, dial *#06# and look for an EID.
  • Keep your own SIM in the phone for bank OTP texts, this line carries no number.
  • Hotspot is on for all plans, so a travel partner can share instead of buying twice.
  • Download maps before ferry and boat days, open water has no land coverage.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, as long as each stop appears on the 25-place coverage list. The same profile follows you from island to island, the phone re-registers on arrival, and your data allowance is shared across the whole trip rather than reset in each country.
Because the coverage list follows the supplier's footprint rather than the map, and it works in your favour if the trip does not end at the water. A week island-hopping the Eastern Caribbean followed by Cartagena, Lima or Rio stays on the same profile and the same balance, with no second purchase. If your route is islands only, that mainland reach costs you nothing, but it is not the reason to buy.
In port, yes, once the ship is docked somewhere on the coverage list. Out at sea there is no land network to reach, so nothing works until you are close to the next island. Onboard satellite packages are separate and nothing to do with this plan.
For most trips, no. Unlimited runs $104.99 for 7 days against $89.99 for 10 GB over 30 days, and it gives 1 GB per day at full speed before dropping to a reduced speed. It only pays off if you genuinely use over a gigabyte most days.
No. These are data-only plans with no number, so no calls and no SMS, which matters if your bank texts one-time codes. Keep your usual SIM in the phone for those, and use WhatsApp or similar over the eSIM data to stay reachable.
