Your Simzora eSIM connects as an international roaming line on Cameroon's two main networks, MTN and Orange, switching between them automatically to pick up the stronger signal. Expect dependable 4G LTE across the big centres, the port city of Douala, the capital Yaoundé, and the coastal town of Kribi, along with the main roads that link them. Be realistic about the gaps, though, coverage is strongest in and around these cities and thins out in rural villages, remote forest, the mountainous areas near Mount Cameroon and quieter coastal stretches, where the signal can slow down or drop away entirely.

This is a data-only line, so there is no Cameroon phone number, no local SMS and no voice calls on the eSIM itself. Keep your usual home SIM active in the phone so your bank and login OTP codes still arrive by text, and let the eSIM carry the internet. You will need to switch Data Roaming on for the eSIM line, which is completely normal for a travel eSIM and adds no extra cost, and everyday apps including WhatsApp work normally over the eSIM data.

Most plans begin counting from the moment the eSIM first connects to a network in Cameroon, so it is best to install and set it up over Wi-Fi before you travel, and setup only takes a minute. Once you land, if the phone shows No Service instead of MTN or Orange, flip Airplane Mode on and off once to nudge it into searching for a partner network again. If it still does not register after a minute or two, restarting the phone usually settles it.

One honest note about how roaming works, your data may exit through an internet gateway outside Cameroon, so the occasional website or app could treat you as if you are browsing from another country, and a service might show a different language or ask for an extra login. This is a minor quirk rather than a blocker, and maps, messaging and general browsing work as normal. Roaming arrangements can change over time, so if any of this shifts we will say so plainly.
